These past few days have made me so proud to be in New York. There’s a magic in the air everywhere you go. All around the world there are communities in which fear is their driving force and New York has proven how unnecessary that is. Today we celebrate love, tolerance, and acceptance. And while I do consider myself to be a New Yorker, today I represent the City on the Bay. When I lived in SF, I spent a lot of time with LGBTQ community. So much unconditional love and support. As a straight woman, it was the men in the Castro who encouraged me to not worry what others thought and to just celebrate who I am even more. And damn…they sure do throw down some great parties. To everyone struggling to find your true self, I hope you are inspired by this community who has persevered and continues to fight for what’s right. Love is love. Happy Pride: You make me proud.
