I’m an eco-fashion designer. I’m part of a movement that wants people to look their best and take care of our planet in the process. There are different approaches to being an eco-designer. Most of us follow the 3 R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle. My approach is to make sure the materials I use are on their second lifecycle. Instead of heading to the landfill, I take the unwanted and turn them into the wanted.
No matter how resourceful I try, there are still going to be fabric scraps that I can’t apply to my clothing designs. They may be too small or just not appropriate for anything in the collection. If I send these leftovers off to the landfill, I defeat my message.
I pride myself in being a design thinker. I’m all about solutions and quality of life through thoughtful design. It makes my tail wag. When I came up with a creative solution as to what I can do with my leftover materials, I had to do a happy dance. It’s so simple yet so effective.
I’m now creative eco friendly home décor by creating decorative pillows with my leftover fabrics. Just like my clothing design, each one is distinctive and exclusive. They are all one-of-a-kind. And because of the materials used, they are solid in structure. Depending on the size, they weigh an average of 2 – 3 lbs. These are not flimsy pillows. They hold their shape and give great back support.
What I love best about this new product I’m offering is that they brings an extra element of high-quality style into our lives while preventing more from going into our landfills. We can feel good about looking good.
You can find them at Sutter Larkin’s Etsy’s on-line store: HERE. I will definitely have them at all trunk shows as well.
I’m happy to create custom orders, too. Please feel free to reach out with inquiries.
